We are often asked this question by potential clients: “What does an average day look like at SCA?” Understandably, you might be apprehensive about treatment, especially if you have never sought treatment before. Here is a snapshot of what a day for you at SCA Recovery might look like. Remember that this is only an example. Every client and treatment plan will be different, which is one of the reasons SCA Recovery focuses on individual plans for individual client recoveries.
An Example Schedule
You’ll wake up in the morning and get ready for your day by getting dressed and showering or bathing. You’ll then go down to the dining area to eat a healthy breakfast, prepared by a professional chef. After breakfast, it’ll be time to work with one of your team members to set a goal for your day. Starting your morning by setting a goal is a great way to get your day started on the right foot.
After you’ve set your goal for the day, you can then go to your first group therapy session. Your small group will have three other people plus a counselor. Here you’ll spend a couple of hours working on your recovery in therapy, and then you’ll go outside for an hour or so to do some hiking in one of the beautiful canyons in the area with a walking buddy. After you spend some time outside in the fresh air, you’ll enjoy a nutritious lunch, prepared by a chef. You’ll have the opportunity to make suggestions and select your food. At SCA Recovery, we take dietary restrictions, such as gluten-free, vegan, or vegetarian, into consideration, so you can always feel comfortable with what you’re eating.
After lunch, you’ll work with a therapist individually, followed by an art therapy class. After class, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner, and then you’ll get some free time. One of your options will be to go to a mixer with other clients, so you can get to know people. You can also choose to relax by the pool, soak in the hot tub, or read a book. At the end of your day, you’ll meet with your counselor to reflect, and determine whether or not you’ve met your daily goal. You’ll then retire to bed so you can wake up refreshed and ready for the next day.
Why We Focus on the Client
Addiction is a complicated disease that requires a carefully thought-out, individualized plan. Because every client is unique, each client’s plan will be customized to their needs. Your schedule won’t look like everyone else’s, but there are some things all our clients have in common. First, we want our clients to be relaxed, because we know that addiction can cause excessive anxiety. We encourage relaxation because it allows our patients the necessary time to reflect and process what they have learned. We also encourage physical activity, because it helps relieve stress and can be part of an overall wellness goal and healthy lifestyle. We encourage our clients to pursue music or art therapy as well because it can be a great way to express themselves.
No matter what your addiction is, how long you’ve been struggling with it, and whether the root cause is past trauma, mental health concerns, or some other factor, SCA Recovery can create a recovery plan for you and your individual needs. That way, you’ll be able to focus on your recovery and your new life. If you have questions about what your days might look like at SCA Recovery, get in touch with us today, and we’ll discuss our treatment programs with you so that you can begin your journey to sobriety.
